- - -

From the 17th to the 19th of November 2017 an exhibition called Between of two Lithuanian artists Adele Pukelyte and One Maldonyte was presented at gallery Q. In 2019, the exhibition found a place to be seen in Lithuania – Meno parkas Gallery.

Two different substances, two different approaches to art. Careful and scrupulous against chaotic and impulsive aesthetics.  Adele Pukelyte’s paintings talk about being: in between of structure and chaos; in between running and standing still; in between of being and not being. These thoughts finally reached a dialogue between two different people and their works.

One Maldonyte is looking for a line between the past and the future. Her works are based on chances, impulsivity and intuition, she concentrates on being here and now. The works are growing with time and one tries not to get stuck in the past.

Between – that is how Adele and One call the timeline in which we are at the moment. Now, while Kaunas is in the process of changing from temporary – to contemporary; now – when young artists are participating in shows, residencies, workshops and are presenting themselves to the world. Exactly at this moment, now, in the point between an utopic future and a past, we are actually living.

About the artists:

One and Adele met at school (Kaunas High School of Art). In 2014 they both entered the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Adele – painting department, One – ceramics department). In the first half of 2017 Adele studied in Copenhagen; in the second half of the year One was studying in Bornholm. This is the third collaboration of these two artists.

The artists are very grateful to Meno parkas Gallery for the opportunity to show this exhibition in Lithuania, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for the possibility to show this exhibition in Copenhagen as well as to Vilnius Academy of Arts for the help in publishing the catalog. Special thanks to Tomas J. Daunora and Dominykas Sidorovas for all the technical help and support as well as to Rokas Petreikis who helped with all the designs.

Exhibition is part of continuous gallery’s “Meno parkas” project “The Young. Green Consciousness”.
