Exhibition time: 10-25 01 2020

Venue: Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės a. 27, 44279 Kaunas, Lithuania)

You are kindly invited to the opening of Agilė Mažonaitė exhibition Laisves (Liberty) Avenue on the 10th of January (Friday) at 6pm, on the ground floor exhibition hall of Meno Parkas gallery (Rotušės a. 27, Kaunas). The reconstruction of the central, pedestrian Laisves (Liberty) avenue is the main topic in this photo project. It is documenting architectural renovation like paradigm to a ever changing personal human life and social evolution.

‘’Laisves’’ avenue is main pedestrian street with important meeting and crossing points in it, like ‘’Soboras’’ church, fountain, musical theater, main post office and others. Strolling in solo along the avenue is the opportunity to be around the people but not with them. All the participants are same as you/me. This urban space is constantly searching for a contact with us like we are with it.

Renovation and decay constantly alter and there is no winner or no end result.
Quick changes look rather radical in a short span of time. During the renovation fenced zones and blocked access were constantly relocated, shaping the new an unexpected interaction with the urban space and people.
Liberty avenue was transformed into a labyrinth with the possibility to move all directions and search for the new ‘’openings’’. Passages became narrow and your personal space is invaded, leaving the feeling of the public transport in a rush hour.

During the process of this renovation we could see other two worlds confronting: inside and outside and show and labour. One is the labours world and they come to their zone bye cars and behave like in their own play field. The other is people visiting the centre of the city.

Urban structure is affecting and organising the human flow, though created by humans themselves.

Exhibitions is part of gallery's project "Aether. 2020". Projects is partly financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
