Vytautas Dubauskas. DOSE
You are kindly invited to the opening of Vytautas Dubauskas exhibition DOSE on the 18th of June at 5pm in Kaunas Picture Gallery (K. Donelaičio g. 16, Kaunas).
Painter Vytautas Dubauskas in his personal exhibition “Dose” is presenting his newest, never exhibited paintings on canvas and paper, created during last four years. “I love Kaunas very much. Although I have never held a personal exhibition here. That is why I decided to dedicate this exhibition to my dear friends, classmates, lecturers, A. Samuolis, Kampas, Alfa, my alma mater – formerly named Kaunas Stepas Žukas Technical School. Next to it I am looking forward to meet younger generation of Kaunas painters – I know here emerged many interesting ones in recent years.” – acknowledges author.
Each time when I experience painting by Vytautas Dubauskas – acute shake-up – when soul transmigrates there – to the other side... I would call this a dose of real art, that is wakening an urge in me to experience it again and again. This ferry of pure painting is especially meaningful today if we think about lanes of our subconciousness that are under constant turbulence of virtually. On the other hand – during last decade German neo-expressionism, that emerged during afterwar period is constantly rethought – senses of impulsive and intuitive creative gesture are constantly provoked by total rationality and social cohabitation practices.
I do sincerely believe, that this time Vytautas Dubauskas exhibition Dose will be an intrigue full of unexperienced sensations, especially because author will present new unexhibited artworks that were created during last four years – paintings and drawings on paper. I think about 20-30 pieces of various sizes will encourage us to think how and why “uppers” of painting exists.
Painting by V. Dubauskas is spontaneous and passionate. It is seemingly emerging from one particular moment or a thought that has overtaken suddenly. But now, presenting his art in Kaunas Vytautas spreads also a dose of nostalgia, even becomes an historical personage of Lithuanian painting. Because here – in Stepas Žukas art college, established in former Kaunas Art School place, has sprouted the Lithuanian version of neo-expressionism. Physical and spiritual eras and ideas converged and became materialized here, in tangible and recognizable form in V. Dubauskas painting.
Project is supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Lithuanian Artists' Association.
