On September 12 (Tuesday) at 18:30 we are kindly invite you to a performance by Davidas-Vytautas, which will activate the exhibition "The Collective Healing Youth Club (CHYC)".
Performance and exhibition will take place at the Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės a. 27, Kaunas).
The Collective Healing Youth Club (CHYC) is a shapeshifting, multidisciplinary, collaboration-based initiative that foregrounds performance and aims to investigate healing through sensory imagery and embodied ritualistic experiences. CHYC begins as an investigation of transgressive and transcendental spaces such as raves and religious environments, engaging with the ways in which these sites generate a sense of safety, freedom, community formation and transformation through experiences of intimacy and catharsis. CHYC aims to disrupt temporal order and generate a sense of continuity in the realm of discontinuity through shared moments of tenderness and tension. These moments hold an endless potentiality of freedom and hope.
Deividas Vytautas (b. 1996 Chicago, USA) is a Lithuanian multi-disciplinary artist based between London, Vilnius and Berlin. His practice spanning performance, moving-image, sculpture and sound explores themes of freedom, transgression, youth culture and spirituality. Through a process of layering, recontextualizing and sampling elements of mass media, religion and pop culture he engages with the contemporary condition constructing intimate, immersive and cathartic experiences which carry with them the potential of release and transformation. Deividas Vytautas graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2022. His work has since been shown at Guts Gallery, London; Sissi Club, Marseille; Mykolas Žilinskas Art Museum, Kaunas and Ghent International Short Film Festival amongst others.
